Atlanta Botanical Gardens: A Must-See This Spring and Summer

Prior to my visit to the garden I visited the Botanical Garden website and found a very comprhensive and helpful site.  The site gives ideas of how to plan your day at the garden and has fun family activities, like a scavenger hunt and critter crawl.  The highlights of my trip were:

The Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Children's Garden where children can frolic in the sunflower fountain, so bring a bathsuit and towel.  This area may be a little disappointing for children over 4, as the toddlers have dominion over the fountain.  Children can also learn about growing a vegatable garden, play Peter Rabbit and discover dinosaur fossils.

The Japanese Garden a small relaxing combination of the "three old friends," stone, bamboo and water.

The Fuqua Conservatory which had a tropical rainforest, with poison frogs, quails and carnivorous plants , a desert house, with prickly cacti, a collection of herb trees and a orchid house.  Did you know that vanilla comes from an orchid? 

The Cafe catered by Sun in My Belly, the food was reasonably priced and surprisingly gormet.  Ranging from a hot dog kids meals to ham, asparagus and havarti quiche.  I had a mozzarella, baby greens and pesto sandwich with edamame and carrot salad, delicious and filling.
