Linebacker Shawn Merriman accused of choking girlfriend: Fact or Fable?

I bet you can’t guess who his girlfriend is?

*drum roll*

Myspace hoe turned TV “Personality”Tila Tequila. I know I know… that’s a bit harsh but that’s what she’s famously known for.

Apparently Tila and Shawn have been an item. Who would have known! What I hate about the media is how they report things. On September 7 Ms. Tequila made a citizen’s arrest on San Diego Chargers linebacker, Shawne Merriman for choking and throwing her to the ground. He was arrested and released around 11 a.m. today. Here’s what his attorney had to say:

“During the evening Ms. Tequila was extremely intoxicated, inebriated and Mr. Merriman did everything he could to assist her in arranging for transportation to leave his home. At no time did Mr. Merriman assault her; at no time did Mr. Merriman keep her against her will. His intentions were nothing but good,”

This statement is later backed up by witnesses. But of course the news reports will make you think otherwise.

Chargers GM’s view of Shawn has been changing. He said that Shawn has become enamored in the Cali ”culture” so this arrest is not raking in the brownie points with him.
