Ellen DeGeneres: New American Idol Judgy

Yep, that's what I said. A lot of people are confused and scratching their heads but it makes perfect sense to me. Although Ellen has no experience in the music business she is a big fan of music. She is sure to add fun, spontaneity, and comedy to the show. I know very few people that don't like Ellen DeGeneres, young or old so she is sure to keep Idol in the top ratings spot.

Watch out Ryan, Ellen may be replacing you soon.

  1. I absolutely agree that Ellen will add fun and comedy (and spontaneity, too) to the show. However, in my mind American Idol exists as sort of a boot camp for the next chart-topper. And to maintain that level of "perfection" (as far as such a thing is possible), I would say it's important that the judges be professionals in the industry. Of course, it's also important for them to be fun and maybe the producers were feeling the show was getting tired and that's why they elected to bring someone in from left field. I think http://www.newsy.com/videos/ellen_joins_idol sums up both her strengths and weaknesses pretty fairly, so of course the debate is still wide open. I'll admit I'm more excited for this season to see how it all plays out.

  2. I'm not excited about Ellen replacing Paula. It's a strange move. Yeah, Ellen is funny and Paula is confused, but she's been in the music industry.

They really don't need four judges anyway.
